Introducing Fat Freezing: A Game-Changer in Wedding Preparation

Fat freezing, also known as cryolipolysis and often called Coolsculpting, is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that targets and eliminates stubborn subcutaneous fat cells. The procedure has been FDA approved since 2009 and TGA-approved since 2010.  This procedure uses controlled cooling plates or applicators that are applied to the skin which then freeze the underlying fat cells. The technology ensures no damage to the skin whilst impacting only the fat cells underneath. The  fat cells damaged during treatment  are then naturally eliminated by the body over the following 12-week period

The Benefits of Fat Freezing

Fat freezing is particularly beneficial for individuals who are unhappy with their existing shape due to abnormal pockets or areas of fat  – because it is targeted. The area that is treated will reduce in size and it doesn’t require weight loss or dieting to see results.

Fat freezing works only on the subcutaneous fat layer, by reducing the number of fat cells (the subcutaneous fat cells die during fat freezing treatment) and hence creating a visible change in body shape. Although in theory there would be weight loss ( due to a reduction of the number of subcutaneous fat cells)  fat freezing is not a chosen treatment for weight loss. Change in shape and success of fat freezing is usually measured through specific location circumference measurements and photographic changes.

Fortunately, fat freezing works on every individual, therefore, providing a one treatment fits all answer.  However, it is important that there are an adequate amount of subcutaneous fat cells in the area to be treated. This can be done via a pinch test during a consultation. It is also important to remember that the more (or thicker) the subcutaneous fat layer is – the more treatments will be required to see reduce the appearance of that area.

Areas commonly treated with fat freezing include the arms (perfect for sleeveless dresses) abdomen, love handles,  waist, hips, bra lines and bra puff (between the breast and the armpit).  For the Groom, the abdomen, hips, and waist are the most common areas treated however men also benefit from fat-freezing treatment on their chest to get rid of what is commonly referred to as “man boobs” or; moobs”. Chin treatments for both men and women are also popular for snatched jaw lines for wedding day photos.

One of the main advantages of fat freezing is that it is a non-surgical and non-invasive procedure. Unlike traditional liposuction, fat freezing does not require incision, needles blood or anaesthesia, which means there is no downtime and a lower risk of complications. This makes it an attractive option for individuals with busy schedules who want to achieve their desired body shape without undergoing surgery. Fat freezing is also considerably cheaper than liposuction and allows for a staggered treatment plan – where one area is targeted and then a week later a new area can be targeted. This is easier on the budget, the recovery, and the time required for treatment.

Patience is Key

Additionally, fat freezing is a gradual process, allowing for a natural-looking transformation so that your friends and family don’t need to know. However, it is important to recognise this fact. Fat freezing does not give overnight results so ensuring you have enough time for the body to eliminate the damaged fat cells (up to 3 months) is important. Some people begin to see results 2-3 weeks after treatment yet it takes up to 3 months to see the full fat freezing results.

It’s important to note that fat freezing is not a weight-loss solution but rather a body contouring treatment. It is most effective for individuals who are close to their ideal weight but struggle with stubborn/heavier areas of fat. However, for larger individuals, the procedure still works, but more treatments may be required due to the thicker layer of fat it is recommended to combine fat freezing with a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and a balanced diet, to maintain long-term results.

Celebrating Results

AND THE RESULTS? A single treatment on the hips will usually provide a 1 -2 inch reduction in the hip circumference. Although this doesn’t sound like a lot, a permanently reduced circumference by one pant size is a lot to celebrate. Your pants will fit easier, there will be no bulge over the top of the dress. Results from clinical trials in 2010 indicated a 26% reduction (via ultrasound).

Timing is Everything

THINGS TO REMEMBER – It is important to be aware of the 12-week period for the full results to appear. As previously mentioned – most clients begin to see results 2-3 weeks after the initial treatment but the clinical evidence supports that it takes up to 12 weeks for the full effects to be seen. This indicates that the size and therefore the extra room in the dress will be changing for this entire 12-week period. Hence it is a good idea to seek fat freezing 8-6 months prior to the big day so that treatments are performed with enough time allowed for dress and suit alterations to fit your new and final shape.

Wedding preparation can be an exciting and hectic time, and many couples want to look their best on their special day. In addition to finding the perfect dress and planning every detail, body confidence plays a significant role in how you feel. Fat freezing offers a non-invasive and effective solution to sculpt and contour your body, boosting self-confidence and allowing you to wear the style and size of the dress that you desire. No longer do you have to wear a style that covers up parts of your body that you don’t like.

The Importance of Professional Consultation and Personalized Recommendations

If you are considering fat freezing, it’s essential to consult with a qualified professional who can assess your individual needs and provide personalized recommendations. Remember, while fat freezing can enhance your appearance, it is just one aspect of wedding preparation. It’s equally important to focus on a healthy lifestyle, exercise, and self-care to ensure you feel confident and radiant on your wedding day. With careful planning and the right support, you can achieve the wedding of your dreams and feel beautiful inside and out.
