This is the most asked question when it comes to planning an Outdoor Wedding and, of course, the answer is a resounding YES.
I don’t know how many times I have heard ‘it won’t rain on my Wedding Day’ or ‘if it rains we will just put up with it’. There are no sensible reasons to not have a Plan B.
It is not always easy to find a location that will provide a space for you if you aren’t having your Reception there but start with your Reception Venue. Art Galleries, Community Halls or a Marquee may also be good alternatives. But please if you have gone to the trouble of finding and booking a wet weather option ~ be sensible and use it.
Keep an eye on the weather radars so you can actually see the rain ~ checking the numerous weather sites that aren’t updated regularly will not be helpful. The decision sometimes needs to be made some hours before your Ceremony so listen to your expert suppliers if they recommend you go with the Plan B, go with it.
The view you wanted all your guests to enjoy outdoors pales into insignificance when it is freezing cold, wet and windy.
Your stylist may not be able to use all of the items you had booked and paid for and even if all the chairs make it out it is hard to keep them dry while it is raining.
If you had booked musicians they will not take their instruments out in the rain, your Celebrant will need to have someone hold an umbrella over her and her PA. You and your Bridal Party will be the same. Your photos will be dull and filled with umbrellas.
Consider all the options when you are going through your Wedding Planning and don’t leave the Plan B on the back burner.
Ask your Stylist, Planner, Photographer or Celebrant for suggestions ~ they have done dozens of Weddings and should be able to steer you in the right direction.
