How to Choose an Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Location

Outdoor Weddings are romantic and beautiful but how do you choose the right spot for your Wedding?  Your Wedding is a reflection of you.  Everything must be perfect for you and your guests.  Don’t be one of those Brides who think that because it is your Day it won’t rain, it won’t be too hot, it will all run perfectly.  Outdoor Weddings do come with a few challenges ~ here are a few tips to make sure your Outdoor Ceremony will be everything you have ever dreamt of.

Ceremony Site

Choose somewhere that is easily accessible, has plenty of parking and is close to your Reception Venue.  If you have guests from Interstate or Overseas you may want to give them a truly Sydney experience and have the Opera House or Harbour Bridge as your backdrop.  Or if you want to theme something that reflects your personality or a trend select a location to suit ~ a Farm, Historic House, Golf or Surf Club.  If you love the idea of a beach Wedding but don’t want to get the sand between your toes, choose a location overlooking the beach on the grass.

Council Permits

Remember beaches and gardens are Public places so be aware that you may have to deal with a family picnic or worse still someone else’s Wedding.  Not all places require you to book so there could be several small groups all attending a Wedding.  Check with the local Council if anyone else has booked the area, if you need a permit and if there are any restrictions.  Choose your date and time carefully to avoid crowds.

Tide & Sunset Times

If you are getting married by the water’s edge, check the tide schedule.  If you are having a late afternoon Wedding check the sunset times.

Photography

Ask your Photographer if there are good locations close by for your post Ceremony photos.  As well as a beautiful backdrop for the Wedding Ceremony shots.

Decorations

Flowers, an Aisle Carpet and a Bridal Arch can be included in the styling of your Outdoor Wedding Ceremony.  Check with the venue or local council if guests are allowed to throw rose petals, confetti or rice as some places don’t permit it.  Visit the site with your Ceremony Coordinator to make sure everything will be set up as you want it.
