Where are Brisbane Garden Wedding Locations?

Brisbane has more than 1000 parks – ranging from small neighbourhood parks to the iconic Roma Street Parkland, South Bank Parklands, Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens and City Botanic Gardens. A small number of these parks have designated areas for weddings, some with a rotunda or other shelter and also offer convenient locations for wedding photography.

During the weekend, particularly on a Saturday afternoon, it may be hard to book the area you want unless you book well ahead, but they are all public spaces, so if your ceremony is an elopement with just you and your two witnesses, or you are having a no-fuss intimate ceremony and so your guest list is small and you are relatively flexible about moving to another part of the park if you turn up and find that the area you planned to use is already in use, for weekday wedding you may decide not to book.

On more popular days for weddings, particularly Saturday afternoon in the more popular sites, it is advisable to book because only a firm booking will allow you to ask people to move out of the site. You cannot ask them to move out of sight or earshot because parks are public places.

You can book specific areas within these parks for your wedding ceremony, commitment ceremony, renewal of vows ceremony, baby naming ceremony or other event.

    Please note that

    • a fee applies and that it is not inconsiderable
    • you may also be required to lodge a bond
    • there are generally restrictions about vehicle access
    • designated sites can be a long walk from parking
    • free parking may be limited and paid parking can be extremely costly for your guests
    • some sites lack toilet facilities, or toilet facilities are a long walk away
    • rotundas and shelters differ in size so may not be an adequate Plan B in case of bad weather
    • there are specific requirements in relation to any chairs or tables you may bring/wish to use
    • restrictions regarding confetti, consumption of alcohol, use of amplified music, etc may apply
